Vari­us Grex e.V. is a young com­munity that was foun­ded out of a desire to provide young people, in par­tic­u­lar, with a place where they can explore the Middle Ages in cre­at­ive and diverse ways. Foun­ded in Janu­ary 2025, the asso­ci­ation brings togeth­er mem­bers who rep­res­ent the era in all its breadth, from peas­ant cloth­ing to the knightly nobil­ity. Influ­ences from live-action role-play­ing and exhib­i­tion com­bat with the European long sword also shape the association’s activ­it­ies. The name ​“Vari­us Grex,” Lat­in for ​“col­or­ful crowd,” reflects this diversity.

At Luther’s Wed­ding, the asso­ci­ation will present a liv­ing camp with vari­ous hands-on activ­it­ies such as seal cast­ing or a sword pro­fi­ciency test. The pro­gram is com­ple­men­ted by exhib­i­tion fights that offer insights into his­tor­ic­al mar­tial arts. Vis­it­ors are invited to explore the camp and exper­i­ence com­mun­al life. The asso­ci­ation wel­comes inter­ested guests and new mem­bers who wish to become part of this vibrant community.
