Saltatio Burgus e.V.
Saltatio Burgus e.V. originated from a group of dancers with an interest in history who gathered at Roßlau Wasserburg in 2009 to rehearse Renaissance and early Baroque dances. This shared passion gave rise to the current association in 2014. The goal is to bring European and regional history to life through music, dance, and authentic reenactments, making it a tangible experience for visitors.
At Luther’s Wedding, the association presents a princely traveling camp of the Ascanian princes Johann and Margareta von Anhalt, who were closely connected to the Reformation era and belonged to Martin Luther’s circle. Dance performances, historical costumes, and interactive activities offer insights into courtly festival culture and social life in the 16th century. In this way, Saltatio Burgus combines historical research with vivid reenactment and invites the audience not only to see history but to actively experience it.
