Wheth­er in front of the Theses or in the midst of the lively hustle and bustle of the tav­erns — the heart of the wed­ding fest­iv­al beats on the Schlossplatz. Thou­sands of guests gath­er at this pop­u­lar meet­ing place, where the aroma of mead, cherry beer, savoury meat and freshly baked cream bread fills the air.

The castle mead­ow stretches out at the foot of the Schlosswiese. It becomes a camp, mar­ket, theatre and pil­grim­age site for many crafts­men, min­strels, jug­glers and his­tor­ic­al soci­et­ies from Wit­ten­berg, the sur­round­ing area and our twin towns. Take a look at how people lived back then and mingle with the loc­als. This is also where the his­tor­ic chari­ot wheel pull takes place with a grand finale on Sunday afternoon.

Peas­ants, knights and their ret­in­ues set up camp in the Schlosshof while musi­cians play in the flick­er­ing light of the fires. Jour­ney­men, lansquen­ets and the castle guard watch over the col­our­ful goings-on and ensure that the many well-trav­elled guests can enjoy the fest­iv­al without a care in the world. You can also immerse your­self in the harsh times of the Middle Ages here: the lansquen­ets and knights of the Black Dragon await you with pil­lor­ies and oth­er gloomy insights into life in days gone by.

People gath­er at the Markt to listen to music and social­ise. The spa­cious square is lined with mag­ni­fi­cent town houses, the impos­ing old town hall and the monu­ments to Mar­tin Luth­er and Phil­ipp Mel­anch­thon. The largest tav­ern in the city is cre­ated here for the fest­iv­al — a place full of sound and life, from which the music flows in all dir­ec­tions and car­ries the news of the wed­ding far bey­ond the square.

A spe­cial premiere awaits you in the Brauhof: the freshly brewed wed­ding beer, cre­ated espe­cially for the cel­eb­ra­tion! Enjoy the unique brew in a con­vivi­al atmo­sphere and let your­self be spoilt with hearty del­ic­acies. A treat for every­one who appre­ci­ates good beer and a his­tor­ic atmosphere!

A feast like in the old days! Prob­ably the longest wed­ding table in Wit­ten­berg invites loc­als and guests to take a seat and cel­eb­rate togeth­er in Mit­tel­straße. On Sat­urday between 17:00 and 19:00, the large table stretches over an impress­ive 500 metres — with the ambi­tious goal of bring­ing togeth­er more than 1,000 guests. Come togeth­er, drink and dine in good com­pany and be part of this unique experience!
