The big celebration 500 years Luther's wedding anniversary

Join us at Ring und Reigen – a place of dance, music and festive cheer, inspired by 500 years of love.

The Luther House, originally built as an Augustinian monastery, was more than just a home for Martin Luther – it was the setting for his formative years. The reformer spent over 35 years here: first as a monk, then as a leading thinker of the Reformation. Within these walls, he not only shaped church history but also influenced the intellectual life of Europe. It was here that he wrote his groundbreaking 95 Theses and developed the ideas that would revolutionise religious and social life. His famous Table Talks were held in this very place, and many of his writings, which marked a turning point in world history, took shape here.

This is also where the story of Martin Luther and Katharina von Bora began. They were married behind the monastery walls on 13 June 1525 and spent many happy years together here. This historic event will be celebrated at the Lutherhof throughout all three days of the festival. Experience this extraordinary place with all your senses – with music and dancing, a refreshing drink from the von Bora’ tavern, or a photo with the Luther couple in front of the festively decorated St Catherine’s Gate. Or embark on a journey into Luther’s life by visiting the special exhibitions in the Augusteum, where you can also marvel at Katharina von Bora’s wedding ring.

NOTE: Access to the Ring und Reigen’ experience (Lutherhof) is free of charge. However, regular admission fees still apply to the special exhibitions in the Augusteum during the festival weekend.
